Who or what creates your future? what is important to you for your future? what sort of world do you want to create and how can you take part into the changes that the present condition requires and are already happening?
Prof. John Barry chose this summer the theme “Young People: creating the world they desire“, following the previous workshop in July 2013: “The Ethical Life”.
As in the past meetings, he delivered young people ideas, enthusiasm, impulse to be active into the social and political dynamics of their community.

Who is Prof. John Barry
John Barry is Professor in Green Political Economy in the School of Politics, International Studies and Philosophy at Queens University Belfast. He has written extensively on the ethics, economics and politics of the transition of society away from high consumption, high carbon energy intensive lifestyles towards more sustainable forms of societal development. His books include, Rethinking Green Politics (1999), Environment and Social Theory (2007) and his latest book is The Politics of Actually Existing Unsustainability: Human Flourishing in a Climate Changed, Carbon Constrained World (2012). He is also an active member of the Holywood Steiner school and was Chair of the Management Council of the school for a number of years. He is also a Green Party politician, a former co-leader of the Green Party in Northern Ireland, and is currently a local councillor on North Down Borough Council in Northern Ireland.
In summer 2015 Prof John Barry won’t be unfortunately available, so I want to take this occasion to thank him deeply for the annual meeting he offered to our students from the beginning of the summer school in Holywood in 2009.
